Environmental Education Explained... sorta.

SOOOOOooooo... it has been a while since I have posted, and for that I apologize. However, this past week was insanely busy. And by the end of it, I was too exhausted to think about what to put on my blog.

Monday morning a group showed up of about 50 some kids. From that time until 1pm on Tuesday, we were all busy running around doing activities with the kids. These activities are all a part of the Environmental Education that I am a part of.

I've decided to give myself a little more material to blog about, I am going to explain each of these activities one at a time each day. The first activity I will explain is a hike that we take around the lake with the kids.

1) Ecology Hike
(The picture is one I took of the lake while hiking around it) This hike has a lot of very beautiful views, and there is also a lot of wildlife along this hike. Taking the kids on this hike and teaching them about the various plants, animals, and even rocks along this lakeside is probably my favorite activity to lead. This hike is an enjoyable way to get exercise, a great way to experience nature, and an even better way to have kids experience nature.
The hike takes about an hour and a half at a steady pace. I've had it take me 2 hours if adult supervisors feel like throwing their two-cents in every 5 steps (which is very aggravating by the way) but it can be done at a much faster pace if you are doing it alone and not stopping to explain things.

That about wraps up the gist of the hike... I might go do it right now, and maybe take a few pictures of some spots along the hike... yup, thats what I'll do.
